the organizations on the ground

Commitment, diversity and feminist action

From street protests to digital campaigns, women are joining forces to defend their rights and transform outdated societal models. Feminist organisations are not just participants – they are at the forefront of building societies grounded in intersectional gender justice and fundamental human rights.

In a world shaped by crises and setbacks in rights, they continue with determination. Feminists in Action supports the transformative power of civil society organisations from the Global South by strengthening the autonomy and impact of those working every day on the front line.

Overview of the needs of feminist organisations in Global South

Easing administrative requirements and budgetary constraints

Adapting resources to the needs of organisations

Sustaining organisations’ financial resources

Feminists in Action commissioned Groupe Egaé to conduct a study on the state of the feminist movement in the programme’s countries of intervention. The study reveals a significant gap between available funding and the real needs of feminist organisations.

Existing funding is limited, difficult to access – especially for smaller organisations – and often poorly adapted to local realities. It is also burdened by heavy administrative requirements. While the situation remains worrying for women’s rights, the study also highlights the vitality and growing influence of feminist movements.

More than ever, these organisations need support for their core operations and projects so they can strengthen their structure, develop sustainably, and preserve their autonomy.
